LFMO, in collaboration with Métis 2SLGBTQQIA+ kin, created a 2SLGBTQQIA+ sash to honor and celebrate them. This sash reflects the historic symbolism of the Métis sash while serving as a proud expression of identity and inclusion.
Les Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak (LFMO), in consultation with Métis 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals, developed a dedicated 2SLGBTQQIA+ sash to celebrate and honor Métis 2SLGBTQQIA+ kin.
Rooted in the historic significance of the Métis sash, this new design embodies cultural pride, resilience, and inclusivity. The 2SLGBTQQIA+ sash not only respects Métis traditions but also serves as a meaningful expression of identity, empowering Métis 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals to share their heritage and diversity with pride.
The sash incorporates the vibrant colors of the Pride Flag, symbolizing inclusivity, diversity, and the ongoing fight for equality, while the infinity symbol represents the unbreakable connection and enduring spirit of the Métis people, reflecting the continuous legacy of Métis culture, identity, and the Métis flag, which unites past, present, and future generations.
The sash is a gift to our 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis kin, honouring their Métis heritage and affirming their identities with pride and visibility.
