IELCC Policy and Métis IELCC Framework
The Quality Improvement Project aims to create culturally relevant, high-quality resources for Métis Early Learners and IELCC staff. It also focuses on forming a national committee to support and guide Métis Early Learning and Child Care service providers.

The Quality Improvement Project is dedicated to enhancing Métis Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) through the development of high-quality, culturally relevant, and accessible tools and resources for early learners and IELCC staff across the Métis Motherland.
This initiative emphasizes the integration of Métis traditions, values, and teachings into ELCC programming while addressing the specific needs of Métis families. Central to the project is the formation of a national committee composed of Métis ELCC service providers, designed to foster collaboration, provide guidance, and ensure the ongoing cultural relevance and effectiveness of ELCC services.
From January 2020 to March 2021, LFMO worked to address gaps in Métis-specific Early Learning and Childcare (ELCC) data. The research, viewed through a Métis GBA+ lens, aimed to define what constitutes high-quality, accessible Métis ELCC and identify gaps and barriers in services.
The initiative focuses on Métis women as primary caregivers, using a range of methods, including a literature review, grassroots engagement, surveys, and interviews with Métis parents, ELCC providers, and Elders. The findings will be compiled into a final research report.
