Metis Perspective on MMIWG2S+
LFMO continues its advocacy on MMIWG2S+ by working with CIRNAC, Métis Knowledge Keepers, and a Métis Nation working group to advance the MMIWG2S+ Action Plan and Calls for Miskotaha (change). Upcoming efforts will focus on direct engagement with grassroots organizations and impacted communities.

Les Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak (LFMO) remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse individuals (MMIWG2S+).
LFMO collaborates with the MMIWG Secretariat at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), Métis grandmothers with decades of advocacy experience, and a Métis Nation working group comprised of representatives from across the Metis Motherland. Through a series of virtual meetings, LFMO has championed the implementation of the Métis Nation’s MMIWG2S+ Action Plan and Calls for Miskotaha (change). Moving forward, LFMO will prioritize direct engagement with Indigenous, women- and youth-led organizations, grassroots advocates, and impacted communities to ensure the voices of those most affected are central to this vital work.
LFMO is collaborating with the MMIWG Secretariat at CIRNAC, along with subject matter experts and Métis Knowledge Keepers, particularly Metis Grandmothers with decades of advocacy experience in MMIWG2S+.
Through a series of virtual meetings, LFMO has played a leading role in driving the implementation of the Métis Nation’s MMIWG2S+ Action Plan, actively advancing its recommendations and fostering discussions on the Calls for Miskotaha (change), with a focus on addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by Métis women, girls, and Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people.
