Research Strategy for MMIWG2S+

LFMO is developing a Métis-specific data strategy to track disappearances, murders, and suspicious deaths of Métis women, girls, and Two-Spirit and gender-diverse individuals (WG2S+). With over 100 cases documented, the initiative focuses on identifying trends, root causes, and advocacy opportunities in collaboration with Pauktuutit Inuit Women.

Les Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak (LFMO) is leading the development of a Métis-specific data strategy and database to document the disappearances, murders (femicides), and suspicious deaths of Métis women, girls, and Two-Spirit and gender-diverse individuals (WG2S+).

With over 100 cases recorded to date, the initiative seeks to uncover trends, root causes, and opportunities for targeted interventions and advocacy. LFMO is also partnering with Pauktuutit Inuit Women to establish best practices in data collection, ethical protocols, methodology, and media strategy, ensuring a standardized and distinctions-based approach to MMIWG2S+ research that respects the unique experiences of Métis people.
