Youth Connect Project

The Métis Youth Project builds on LFMO’s foundational work to engage Métis youth, fostering leadership, advocacy, and representation in key policy areas. Through a Youth Network, the project strengthens connections among Métis youth, Elders, and LFMO while amplifying youth perspectives.

In 2019, Les Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak (LFMO) launched a three-year initiative to engage Métis youth across the Métis Motherland and integrate their perspectives into LFMO’s advocacy and policy work.

Recognizing the ongoing need for consistent support to uplift Métis youth into leadership roles, LFMO is continuing this mission with a two-year Métis Youth Project. This initiative focuses on fostering connections among Métis youth, facilitating intergenerational knowledge transfer with Elders, and ensuring youth perspectives shape LFMO’s files, particularly in areas like gender-based violence and climate change. By establishing a Métis Youth Network, the project aims to strengthen ties to LFMO, provide cultural guidance, and empower Métis youth in their advocacy and community-building efforts.

In 2019, LFMO launched a 3-year project to enhance Métis youth engagement across the Métis Nation Motherland and integrate their perspectives into all LFMO initiatives, supported by the creation of a Métis Youth Network.

Over the course of its 2-year Youth Project, LFMO aims to strengthen connections among Métis youth across the Métis Motherland, foster knowledge exchange between youth and Elders, and ensure consistent Métis youth representation in LFMO’s policy work, particularly on gender-based violence and environmental issues.
