Métis Youth Mental Wellness: Policy and Legislation Scan

Métis youth in Canada experience mental wellness challenges that stem from historical and ongoing colonial trauma, inequitable access to culturally safe care, systemic racism, jurisdictional complexity, and social determinants that disproportionately impact Indigenous communities. In recent years, Canada has strengthened legislation, funding, and policy approaches that support Indigenous-designed, distinctions-based, and culturally grounded mental health systems.
